What we take and what we cannot
Most of what fills a house can go on our truck. A short list cannot. Here it is.
What goes on the truck
Furniture, mattresses, rugs, boxes, clothes, toys, books. Fridges, washers, dryers, stoves, water heaters. TVs, computers, printers. Yard waste, fence panels, old grills, bikes. Hot tubs and the deck they sat on. Drywall, wood, tile and carpet from a remodel. Office desks, chairs, racks and store fixtures. If you can point at it, we can almost always take it.
What cannot go
Paint, stain, solvents and thinner. Gas, oil, antifreeze and other car fluids. Pool and lawn chemicals, pesticides, fertilizer. Propane tanks and fire extinguishers. Asbestos, including old tile and pipe wrap. Medical waste. These are hazardous, and the transfer stations will not take them from us either.
What to do with the hazardous stuff
Louisville Metro runs household hazardous waste drop offs for paint, chemicals and fluids. Check the Metro waste page for the current days and site. Auto parts stores take used oil and batteries. Propane tanks go back to the exchange.
